lincolnshire fens

Boston Lodge is an ideal Fens bed and breakfast for touring the Lincolnshire Fens and holidays in the Fenlands of Lincolnshire.

Boston Lodge is situated at the heart of the Lincolnshire Fens just east of the most inland part of The Wash.

The Fens are unique with an atmosphere and character all of their own. This fascinating land with its special history and heritage offers something with a real difference, a chance to really get away from it all on a relaxing family, golf or fishing holiday or short break. The Boston Lodge location in the Fens makes it an ideal bed and breakfast to stay at as all points of the fens are easily reachable with a short drive. The Fens stretch from Cambridge to Lincoln and from King’s Lynn to Peterborough – nearly 1 million acres of beautiful black soil and wildlife-rich water. The Fens of today are a people-made landscape, as full of history and heritage as they are of flowers, horticulture, water and wildlife.

Typical Lincolnshire Fens Landscape
Our Fenlands guest house is only 3 miles from the main East of England Holiday Route and therefore perfect for touring the Fens of Lincolnshire.

The Fens have a character all of there own. The flat terrain, with only a few trees and hedges, the scattered villages, the big fields, and above all, the big skies, create a unique landscape.

There is an exciting and varied calendar of events in the Fens with something to meet the approval of all members of the family. From craft fairs and exhibitions to firework displays and carnivals – you will always find something a little bit special to see and do in this part of the world.

Construction work is now well underway to provide a new tidal lock where the South Forty Foot Drain meets the River Witham at Boston. This lock is the first major step towards realisation of the Fens Waterways Link. The Fens Waterways Link promises to be one of the most significant waterway developments in recent years. It will connect the Rivers Witham, Glen, Welland, Nene and Ouse and will open up 240 km of waterways creating a new circular waterway for recreation, tourism, fishing and the environment.
